Who We Are

Our mission is simple: to see the lost be saved and help you build and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to the Glory of God and for His purpose.

Definition: a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction of what should be "Our vision for the Odessa area is to serve God, by serving his people, and bringing the message of hope, healing, and restoration to the lost and broken."(Isaiah 58:8)

“Thank you for coming to Latter Rain to worship with us today. We are excited about what God has for your future and believe the Lord has directed you here for a purpose. We are honored you chose to be a part of our service. If you don’t have a home church, please consider being a part of our church.” May God bless you and your family! Pastors Craig & Sissie DeArmond

Our beliefs:

God- There is one God, Creator of all things infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in 3 manifestations: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4, Mark 12:29) Jesus Christ- Jesus Christ is the one true God and man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on a cross, the complete and final sacrifice for our sins. He rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, where he sits at the right hand of God as our High Priest and Advocate. The Holy Spirit- The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living. Man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. Baptism in the Holy Spirit- The Baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. (Acts 2:4) The Bible- We believe the entire bible is inspired by God, without error and the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine. Salvation and Second Coming- The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. One day there will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. Baptism & Communion- Water baptism by immersion soon after accepting Christ as your personal Savior, is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life. You are declaring you are dead to your old nature and alive in Christ. Communion is remembrance of The Lord's supper. This is a symbolic and sacred time of coming together as a corporate body and honoring Jesus and the price he paid so that we can live in freedom of sin and bondage.

Answers to common questions

Why do we raise our hands? The word of God says to make a joyful noise to the Lord and to lift up our hearts and our hands to worship our God in Spirit and in truth. Our outward act shows an inward act of God's love shed abroad in our hearts. That is why we lift our hands, sing, worship, and bless the Lord. (Psalms 63:4, Psalms 134:2, John 4:24) What does it mean to be "Slain in the Spirit"? This is a common term used in churches to describe an overwhelming experience in the presence of the Lord. In the New Testament it talks about how God's presence would make men fall to their knees (1 Cor. 14:25). It is a physical response to a heart being transformed by God's presence. This experience manifests in so many ways. You will see some people fall out before the Lord, holy laughter, speaking in tongues, shaking and weeping. What does it mean to speak in tongues? In second chapter of Acts it talks about the day of Pentecost, when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in other tongues. It was another language they did not know. The bible says they were "declaring the wonders of God!" Why did God use speaking in tongues to show his power? When the disciples starting speaking in tongues in Jerusalem (a place where Jews from every nation came together), all the people heard their language and were edified by their words. The purpose of speaking in tongues is to uplift and benefit the people of God.
